6-switchbox

6-switchbox.jpg

Light switches, a wire terminal board, fuse block and low battery condition monitor are all mounted in an electronics hobby project box mounted under the trike seat. Two metal straps were welded to the metal frame of the trike seat to provide mounting points for the switch box. It's very crowded in that little box! Rubber boots over the toggle switches help protect from moisture and road grime. Wire pass-thru holes are sealed with silicone.

I don't have any photos of the low battery monitor, but it is a nifty little device created by my friend. It reads changes in voltage and starts sounding a piezo beeper once every 20 seconds when the battery voltage drops to a preset, predetermined level. NiMH (and NiCad) battery packs can be damaged if the voltage drops lower than 1 volt per cell. That translates to 10 volts on a 10 cell 12 volt pack. I have the battery voltage monitor set to begin beeping at 10.5 volts.
