This shows the placement of the charcoal starter near the door of the fire box.

Note: In lieu of a $12.00 chimney starter, I elected to use a $3.00 piece of galvanized 7" stovepipe fitting from the hardware store.

The chimney is filled with small pieces of lump charcoal. Some lefover pieces from the last burn are mixed in with the fresh charcoal.

The log lighter is visible running under the fire grate and under the chimney.
